Are you currently on maternity leave or will soon be? Is this the only time that you get to watch tv for yourself?

I am usually watching cartoons or kids movies so maternity leave was pretty exciting for me because I was able to watch tv! I am not normally one to recommend watching a bunch of tv. However there are some shows that I have seen recently or binged on maternity leave myself that I loved.

Maybe you are in the market for a new show? Well look no further because here is a list of shows to dig into. Most of what you will find here will not be something that will trigger your overactive, worrying mind. I used to love dramas and mystery. I used to love murder shows or detective types. My intrusive thoughts as a mother dictate that I no longer love those types of shows and furthermore I try to really be careful of what I consume and be mindful of what my kids consume.

Maternity leave was always a treat though because I needed to rest and I can’t just sleep ALL day. So let’s get into it.

Cheers!

I LOVE Cheers! It is so classic and funny. However towards the end there are definitely some played out jokes and storylines but still a great one for all times.

How I Met Your Mother

Another one I love. In fact I watched all of them on two different maternity leaves. You know how it is, you fall asleep and miss some stuff so you never see it fully through. I had never seen this when it was actually airing – I’m always late to the game!

The Good Place

Wow. If you haven’t watched this one it is a must watch! So smart and funny but still really poignant and who doesn’t love to say “Holy Forking Shirtballs!” Plus there is Ted Danson, again. Love!

Zoe’s Extraordinary Playlist

Man I wish this one would have come back. But it was right in the pandemic time and no one knew what the hell was going on. It is a goooooood one though. And if you want there is a Christmas special on Peacock streaming so you can have one last dose!

Schitt’s Creek

Y’all I was so late to the game on this one. My sister told me about it and I tried a couple times without luck to start it. But I tried again on a leave and never looked back. It is so fantastic. I could watch it over and over again.

Grace and Frankie

I was a faithful follower of this show and found it during a maternity leave. The last season was during the pandemic so it kind of falls apart. Every other bit was gold though. I can’t tell who I love more, Jane Fonda or Lily Tomlin. All the characters are so wonderful though. I have loved them all equally and different over time.

The Ranch

I add this one because it was more emotional than it seemed and even though it had its own scandal I still love it. Plus Sam Elliot, whew.
