Can you choose the gender of your baby at conception? No of course you can’t actually choose. However, you can make it more likely to have the gender that you choose. Also this can just be a guide to conceiving period if you prefer. That said, this is not to minimize anyone struggling with conception and fertility. There are very real issues that many people face and I cannot help with this article. I am just sharing what my experience was and I am sending all the healthy vibes to those on their motherhood and parenthood journey. If pregnancy and fertility are a trigger for you please do not read this post.
My husband and I were blessed to get pregnant when we tried. We has two losses at different times in our journey but we were also blessed with three girls and two boys. I had one boy prior so that is a pretty large family.
With our first two girls we decided we wanted to get pregnant and waited until I was ovulating which I knew roughly because I tracked my cycle in an app. Nothing fancy there.
When we thought about trying for one more we both definitely wanted a boy. We began to plan to try for a boy. We were going to follow all the tips and tricks that you can find on the inter webs. No hot showers, no alcohol and more, mainly for him. For me, I was going to take my vitamins and stay hydrated. When we finally though my cycle was going to start again so we could plan, I found out I was already pregnant. Oops! I apparently didn’t plan well enough.
All we could hope was that it was a boy like we planned to try. We found out it was not. We were having another girl. We were a little bummed but grateful.
Now here we are, three girls and ourselves, we are getting up in age. I tell him I think we should try one more time for a boy. He is pretty adamant that three is enough but I promise him that we are going to have a boy this time. I can’t actually promise this but I did it anyway.
He is on board after a little more coaxing. I begin to seriously track my cycle. And I am reading the Babydust Method. There are many, many different methods that people used to say would help you conceive a certain sex baby. Many of them were proven to be tips at best. The Babydust Method author read these studies and pieced together her own method. her success rates in couples she studied were actually quite high so I decided that I would try her method.
In order to start I needed to track my cycle with ovulation strips, like these. I needed to track every day for a few months so I truly knew what it looked like when I was ovulating. So I did.
We tried when I was ovulating following the method for a baby boy in the book. We got pregnant! YAY! Now we had to wait to find out what the sex was. Normally we wouldn’t get the genetic testing when pregnant but as I got older we did so we could plan if there were issues. With the testing you can find out the sex of the baby. We found out it was a healthy boy!
As you can imagine, we were elated but also I was blown AWAY that the method had worked. I am not saying it would always work but for a first try and it working- I was impressed.
Fast forward to us getting our next boy. I wanted one more boy but we had decided to stop at 4 amazing little humans. We were very close to 40 and it was getting hectic. That didn’t matter though because we got pregnant again. This time it was a surprise. After the initial shock of it wore off, I started hoping it was a boy.
We again tested and found out it was another healthy boy! Then I backtracked to see when we got pregnant and if the method still was true. When I figured it out, it was the same process as we had used minus the testing. So we just happened to get lucky and get pregnant right when I was ovulating.
I was a believer now! And I was also done having babies! I shared it with people close to me that also wanted a certain sex and looking back I realized my girls were all conceived fitting into the method for girls in the book.
Now I am sharing it with you! Do you want to conceive a certain sex baby? Give the book a try! Of course all of us just want happy, healthy babies so if this is not for you, no problem!
Let me know if you try it!
