Welcome to the last day of 2021 my friends. I hope that you are celebrating and taking some much needed rest time from this year.

This year has brought so many amazing things for me and I have been reviewing my accomplishments so that I can remember where I was a year ago. And decide where I want to be a year from now.

Mainly right now though I want to domino a few goals that I think will have the biggest impact on my life. One of them is health and fitness. Now I know this is everyone’s new year resolution usually but this is not just for the new year. I am sick and tired of being out of shape and inconsistent. You may remember I wrote a post on consistency. And it is everything. In order to get what I want I need to be consistent.

But how do I do that when a surprise pregnancy got me off my game? I am so out of shape now it seems impossible. I am in the final stretch, the third trimester.

What I realized is that I don’t have to be ready to work out for 45 minutes a day. That is not happening anyway. What I need to do is SOMETHING. I need to start small. I am just wasting time if i don’t do anything anyway so I may as well do a little to get going.

What I have started with is two times a week or more if I feel good, working out for 10 minutes. THAT’S IT. What a joke right? But I seriously am so out of shape that a 10 minute workout leaves me so sore for two days that I can barely walk.

I am doing strength training with moderate weights. A 20 pound kettlebell, like these. I like them for some exercises and then two of them for others. This is nothing compared to what I used to use but we all need to start somewhere. And for me this is it. The next two days after a workout I spend stretching. It is amazing how tight everything gets even though I should be all loosey goosey from pregnancy hormones.

So if you need to start working out and are tricking yourself out of it because your mind is telling you it is too hard, ignore it. Start with something. Something small and work up to more. What have you got to lose? Time is passing by anyway!

Make 2022 your year of going for it. I’m wishing you all the best and cheering you on!
